Doll Making Workshops in London and OnlineMorning or evening short courses on how to make a Waldorf style doll in one of two different shapes. I encourage you to enjoy the creative journey and celebrate the perfectly imperfect handmade. I also offer one to one doll making tutorial sessions. Examples of dolls made at my workshops are shown here, made mostly by complete beginner doll makers. |
Handwork slows you down and brings you into the here and now, allowing your body and intellect to work together.
You will be making a Waldorf doll in your choice of patterns and skin colours, using natural materials including organic stuffing wool. We will shape the head with tubular bandage and binding string, embroider the simple features and sew the hair into a crocheted cap.
All levels are welcome, from beginner to experienced. We will be a small group and you will be well supported. Using a sewing machine is optional.
Children's doll making workshop - Five Monday afternoons in Jan/FebOnline course with a little homework in between and whatsapp support throughout.11, 18, 25, Jan 1, 8 Feb 4.30-6pm£95 plus £30 materialsThis workshop is intended for children aged 8 and up who would like to make their own doll. It would be good to have an adult in the background to help with the trickier sections. This workshop is for the slim doll pattern (not the ‘teddy bear’ round shape doll). You will be guided carefully through the process with five zoom meetings and lots of whatsapp support. We will be using high quality, all natural materials including organic (non certified) stuffing wool from Rosewood farm in Yorkshire. You will be able to choose your eye and skin colour. Your kit will include a basic hair yarn if you wish but you are encouraged to buy your own separately as there is so much choice out there and this really adds to the character of your doll. Skill level: Enthusiastic sewers age 8 and up. I believe in enjoying the process and not over focusing on the perfection of the result. Use of a sewing machine with adult supervision is optional. The workshop was invaluable for all their attention and the benefit of their expertise and enabled me to make a doll that I know my daughter will love and cherish. The atmosphere was lovely and supportive and the two days very enjoyable.
The workshop was really inspiring and the instructions and clear step by step explanations. I can’t wait to start a new doll for testing my memory and specially your experienced tips!!. You and Sevim were very tuned together and warm towards all of us and the structure and the progress of the two sessions were in a very pleasant pace.
Thank you once again for your guidance during the wonderful workshop – I really enjoyed it. Joe (my son) has been a hard task master but his sky fairy is now complete and to his satisfaction!
