You will be making a Waldorf style doll in a choice of patterns, skin and eye colours. You will learn how to shape the head with tubular bandage and binding string, then sew on the face fabric with no neck wrinkles, we will stuff the doll with natural, clean (chemical free) wool, embroider the features and attach the hair on a crochet cap.

All levels are welcome, from beginner to experienced doll makers. We will be a small group and you will be well supported. Examples of dolls made at other workshops are below.

All materials will be provided except yarn for the hair. We will use good quality materials including cotton tricot and organic stuffing wool.

There will be a sewing machine to share though please expect to do a little hand sewing at home in between sessions.

The cost for the two Sundays London workshop is £95, other cost vary because of travel and venue hire. To reserve your place you must pay the course fee in advance. You can cancel your reservation up to two weeks before the event, after that the fee will not be refundable.

Some comments from participants

My daughter Roma was really impressed about my doll, Bob, specially about his mobility! The workshop was really inspiring and the instructions and clear step by step explanations. I can’t wait to start a new doll for testing my memory and specially  your experienced tips!!. You and Sevim were very tuned together and warm towards all of us and the structure and the progress of  the two sessions were in a very  pleasant pace. Oh! and the delicious lunch, yum yum!

Love to you two and many thanks

Image The workshop was invaluable for all their attention and the benefit of their expertise and enabled me to make a doll that I know my daughter will love and cherish. The atmosphere was lovely and supportive and the two days very enjoyable.Donna

Thank you once again for your guidance during the wonderful workshop – I really enjoyed it.

Joe (my son) has been a hard task master but his sky fairy is now complete and to his satisfaction!

I enjoyed making my daughter’s doll with you. It was nice to do something manually which is actually quite difficult: it’s not only a case of needing someone to tell you what to do next, but you have to know how to hold everything together and sew and check it looks right, all with only two hands…

Thank you again for the really wonderful time I had at the workshop. It’s so nice to be able to be in the company of such talented women, creating such beautiful things.

I loved every minute of it!

Brilliant working atmosphere, serious advice, teaching and support, plentiful materials and exquisite refreshments.

High class stuff!

I have been doing a Steiner Waldorf doll making workshop with the lovely talented ladies at Dalston Dolls. These days there are a whole lot of crafts one can pick up online through Youtube and tutorials, but this is something I’m so glad I did with experienced makers. Not only was the company absolutely lovely but this turned out to be a really skilful process and I just don’t think I would have had the kind of satisfying experience making my first doll without the support and guidance of two makers who have done it many times before.

Dear Mopsa, dear Sevim, thank you both very much for a wonderful,  rewarding experience at your doll-making workshop! You are both fantastic teachers. You looked at our dolls, as they were emerging, as one might at real little children – that alone was heart-warmingly encouraging! … Many, many thanks for the wonderful time!I would love to do it again.

I attended your second workshop because I had enjoyed the first immensely – and the second was equally fantastic. The two of you are tremendously good teachers, encouraging and guiding in equal measure. Your workshops are beautifully planned and prepared – anyone who follows the timeline you set out can complete a doll in the time you allocate: One can hold a finished doll in one’s hand in the space of two days’ work with you and homework before and after – wonderful! I would happily do another course with you, just because it is so enjoyable. Enjoyable because of the doll one creates, but also because of the atmosphere of creative, concentrated, work – a much-needed break from daily life. While one is creating something that is (or can be) for someone else, one gets to be oneself; such an energising experience! Many thanks for a lovely time!

Dear Mopsa and Sevim, …’Dolly’ was well received! …she has been welcomed into the family and sleeps with Alice every night now.

Thank you very much to you both for your help and support in making my first doll! I couldn’t have done it from a book or online instructions alone, and really enjoyed the whole experience – being in a welcoming environment, chatting, meeting you both and other makers, having feedback and guidance from you and the comments of the others too – a really lovely time.

Just to say how much I enjoyed the doll-making workshop.  The help I received from you & Sevim was just what I needed to get this project underway, its something I’ve been wanting to do
